Latest inspection
At its last full inspection (August 2023; report published October 2023), inspectors found outcomes for prisoners were reasonably good for safety, respect and purposeful activity; good for rehabilitation and release planning. It held 603 people at the time, against an operational capacity of 621.
The Derbyshire open prison kept reasonably good outcomes and improved release planning to good. Inspectors warned that a significant quantity of drugs was getting in and that much of the accommodation was old and grubby.
