Latest inspection
At its last full inspection (October 2023; report published January 2024), inspectors found outcomes for women were reasonably good for purposeful activity; good for safety, respect and rehabilitation and release planning. It held 97 women at the time, against an operational capacity of 98.
Inspectors praised the Kent open prison's use of temporary release to get women into paid work, but found weaknesses in education and in the promotion of equality.
